I want to share my recent experience with a property management company. After living in New Zealand for 12 years, this has been one of my worst experiences. We were renting a house on a one-year contract, but after two months, we were informed that the owner wanted to renovate and sell. We agreed to end the tenancy early. Upon moving out, we hired professional cleaners and left the property in excellent condition. However, despite several emails asking for the keys to be collected, we received no response. We were often given excuses. We have proof of the cleaning and photos showing the house was undamaged. Now, after 2.5 months, we received charges and they are only offering to return a fraction of our bond. We are confused about this situation. I'm sharing this to raise awareness and seek advice from anyone who has faced similar issues.
