Wait times for road side assistance are unacceptable. I was broken down on a busy highway at 5:50 pm. There was no shoulder so I was in the curb lane. Traffic was forced to change lanes to go around me. I called BCAA for roadside assistance 5:33 pm. We were initially told the wait time for a tow was 1 - 1 1/2 hrs. I received a text at 6:32 that the estimated time of arrival was now 7:32 pm. I called again at 7:35 pm and was told the truck was on the way, but probably stuck in traffic. I called again at 7:55 pm and was told the same. I insisted on talking to dispatch to find out exactly where the truck was. After 15 minutes on hold I was told the truck was on another call and would be at least another 45 minutes. I was getting dark. It was not safe to sit in the vehicle as we were almost hit a couple of times when oncoming traffic did not notice us in time and could not change lanes. I ended up having to try driving my truck with a burned out clutch to get out of danger. Not to mention that we were cold and hungry. My husband and I are in our 70's. We had felt secure that we had BCAA. That feeling is now gone.
