I purchased 6 items, but was incorrectly charged for 7, so I went to the Queenstown store to request a refund. However, I was told that the register was not working and that I would be given a gift card instead, with a one-month expiry.I find this completely unreasonable. This was money that should have been refunded to me, yet it was replaced with a gift card that expires in one month. It doesn’t make sense that my own money would suddenly have an expiry date. I was honestly surprised by this way of handling the situation. On top of that, the staff became defensive when I pointed out the mistake, which made the experience even more unpleasant.As I did not want to return to the store again, I accepted the gift card and used it on the spot to purchase items.However, when the gift card was processed at the register, it turned out to be invalid and caused another error. Although the refund amount was deducted, I was unable to receive a receipt and left the store.Giving customers an invalid gift card is a serious issue. If I had not used it immediately and had tried to use it later, I likely would have been told it was unusable. In that sense, I’m glad I used it on the spot.Overall, this was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
