We contracted a service to clean our gutters, and their written estimate clearly stated that the job included inspecting the downpipes to ensure they were clear and functioning properly. While the gutters were cleaned, the downpipe issue was not addressed. On-site, the worker mentioned he couldn't confirm if the downpipe had been fully cleared. We were not informed that the company lacked the necessary equipment to effectively clear this type of downpipe, nor were we offered any refund. After the service, we promptly raised the ongoing issue via email but received no reply for nearly a month. During this period, I called and was promised a callback that never happened. After following up a week later, we still received no response. Only after persistent follow-up by phone did we finally get a reply via email. At that point—after numerous attempts to get clarity—the company acknowledged they do not possess the equipment to flush or properly clear internal cast iron downpipes. Nevertheless, we were charged the full amount of £225 for a service where a major promised component was not delivered and the original issue remained unaddressed. The company suggested a £50 partial refund (£25 for the service and £25 for inconvenience), which we felt was inadequate. When we sought clarification on how this amount was determined and requested a more equitable resolution, we received no response. Overall, this experience was marked by misleading sales communication, an incomplete service, extremely poor follow-up, and being charged in full for work the company later admitted it could not complete. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this service.
