One star is one star to many for a company like Bethesda! Every game they drop is a unfinished buggy mess only really playable years later thanks to a billion patches and the relentless efforts of the modding community.I recently bought Doom Eternal and my main campaign was missing, and it was not listed under dlc and just in need of being activated as several forum posts suggested. I though: Maybe I just bought a big dlc bundle? This turned out to be correct, ok then I will just buy the base game? But no, steam would not let me purchase the base game as it was apparently already in my library as part of the Year One Bundle? When I in fact needed to buy the base game, thus I went back and forth adding it to my shopping chart only to be told I already owned the product and subsequently removing it, after repeating this process about a dozen times something snapped and I was able to complete my purchase and finally play then game. One could argue that this particular incident mostly falls on Steam and their unclear marketing. But it doesn't change the fact that Bethesda's games are so shoddy that Steams support wont even deal with any of their issues, and just refers you to Bethesda's customer support.Bethesda supports response was to send me a generic pamphlet how to make the game work on different platform "make sure to sett the campaign dlc as active" derp! Wow, thanks Bethesda! Are you all professional morons or just a bunch of gifted amateurs?! Its not like it took me less than 2 minutes on the internet to see that this is a common issue with this game, but obviously not what I was dealing with. I was then asked to provide proof of purchase and such, that I did. They eventually got around to tell me what I had already figured out by then, that the steam store is a buggy mess, full of unclear marketing and that my bundle didn't include the base game. Regardless. This company truly does not care about its customers, nor the fans of the franchises they have acquired and subsequently debased beyond recognition over the years!Doom is the one franchise that has more or less stayed true to its roots, I suppose we should give them props for that at least. At this point dread the release of the next instalment in the TES or FO series. The last installments of these franchises are so detached from their predecessors that playing them is bordering on painful.
