We utilized beyond for 6 years across multiple platforms and listings.
While we were never really happy, we felt that it was better than nothing.
During our time there were some major mishaps:
1) They take a percentage of gross bookings INCLUDING government mandated taxes. When we complained the repeatedly told us too bad, that’s just how they are set up.For context, taxes in our area are approximately 20%. That means we were paying hundreds of dollars a year in fees just for collecting taxes!
2) Our property suffered damage from a natural distaster. We were forced to cancel numerous high value bookings. Beyond refused to refund our fees, stating that their cancellation policy entitled them to a cancellation fee for each reservation. Apparently according to beyond
“We find that this philosophy and practice also aligns closely with our Integration partners, and helps to create a consistent user experience for you across all platforms for pricing your listings”
Yes, this was their actual response. To clarify, when you do well they take a percentage. They keep their percentage regardless of you refunding guests or cancellations out of your control.
4) We also erroneously believed they were worth the extra cost over competition, however have been proven wrong. Their pricing was often inconsistent and would hit minimums on high value days, while failing to capture revenue on important holidays and weekends.
Finally, after expressing surprise and disappointment regarding their use of these policies we cancelled . We then reached out to give feedback via both email and direct messaging on social
Platforms. Not surprisingly we have yet to receive a response.
In summary, beyond cares not at all about customers or their experiences.
