Bilt 1.0 was confusing. Bilt 2.0 is horrible.
Biggest issue, the department that handles rent payments is only available by text or email. There is no guaranteed response time. I paid my rent a day early. My landlord got a message saying it would process in 2 business days. I asked the chat bot for help, it told me 3 business days. It has been 3 business days. No payment, no guarantee I'll hear back any time soon from the emails I sent to the rent support department (received a high 'call' volumes message too), and if the payment doesn't process by the end of tomorrow, I get a late fee. Believe it or not, the company does have two phone lines you can call, which are fairly useless, because neither addresses rent payment inquiries, you know, that payment that keeps a roof over your head every month.
I have had 3 payment issues with the company over 6 months as a user. 1st was my mistake, the instructions for Bilt 1.0 were complicated, and my mistake ended up getting my Venmo account frozen. 2nd issue, my Venmo was frozen again when they failed to tell us in advance they would be deactivating the old rent payment system on the day I happened to pay my rent with no prior notice, 4 days before the new cards were due to activate. This is the 3rd. 3 strikes and I'm out.
Do not trust this company. Zero accountability. Their customer service system is utterly unhelpful, and takes ages to get back to you. Will be closing my account as soon as this payment processes. Too bad the cards are made of metal and nearly indestructible. This is all to say nothing of the overhaul of the rewards system to only add value to users spending over 25% of their rent amount on other card purchases. I dont even care about that at this point though. $3.3K has left my account and been in limbo for 5 days (3 biz), they have violated their own terms, with zero accountability. Mine as well be DOGE at that point. Do not trust Bilt. Never paying my rent this way again. Goodbye Bilt, another scam American company with zero accountability or care for its end users.
