I had an awful experience with BlaBlaCar on a round trip between The Hague and Paris.
Outbound (The Hague → Paris):
• The bus was late.
• My seat wouldn’t stay upright it kept collapsing backward so I couldn’t sit properly.
• The charging ports didn’t work the entire trip, which is unacceptable on a long journey.
Return (Paris → Netherlands, transfer in Brussels):
This is where it turned into a nightmare. Bus was late again The driver told us we had 45 minutes, and the app also showed 45 minutes until departure. We went to the nearby station to grab food and came back about 20 minutes later… and the bus was gone.
It left early, despite what both the driver and the app said. We weren’t the only ones other passengers were also waiting and got stranded.
The worst part: our luggage had already been checked in, meaning our suitcases were on the bus when it left without us. We then had to travel across countries just to recover our own bags (Antwerp → Amsterdam), wasting time, money, and causing huge stress.
Customer service is basically nonexistent. There’s no proper phone support just an AI chat and email. And via email, staff couldn’t even contact the driver or solve anything. We were left stranded and had to figure everything out ourselves.
Bottom line: late bus, broken seat, no charging, a bus leaving early and taking passengers’ luggage, and no real support. I strongly recommend not booking with BlaBlaCar.
