Custom ‘Made to Measure’ Loom for Lefty 339 🎸

Purchased a custom ‘made to measure’ loom for a left handed Gibson 339. The loom looks great! Nice and tidy, well constructed with high quality parts and very a highly thought out design! Customer service was great as well, David was very patient with me to explain the correct installation which was very much appreciated. I can certainly highly recommend and would certainly use again. Thank you again David 🙏

Purchased a set of Mustang pickups from David. Despatched very quickly and packaged really well. They sound amazing , all the best quality of vintage Mustang pickups but without the downsides. I have a couple of other offset builds and will definitely be using Bloodstone again when I come to do the electrics on them.

Brilliant Pickups & Service

Bought 3 sets of pickups from here over the last couple of years & they all sound fantastic. Genuinely miles better than any of the big name pickup manufacturers I've used & all have that personal touch. Great comms & will wind anything to your spec. I suspect any 1 star reviews are awkward customers as David seemed nothing but helpfull on every communication with him.

Fantastic sounding pickups.

My first contact with Bloodstone Guitar Works was to have a rewind on an old Fender Jazz Bass pickup. The work David provided was so good that I then ordered some pickups, all of which sound fantastic. 1 - a set of strat pickups with alnico 5 magnets on the lower three strings, and alnico 3 magnets on the three higher strings. This combination provides a tight, snappy low end, and a smooth, glassy top end - lovely!!2 - Split P-Bass pickup - fitted to my custom built Paisley P-Bass. It sounds great - open and throaty.3 - hum-cancelling 50s style single P-Bass pickup - once again sounding fantastic - retains the single coil style clank, without any electrical interference buzz. I'm so pleased with all of the pickups I've used, that I have now ordered three more pickups for more of my guitars - a couple of Nocaster flat pole bridge pickups, and a vintage PAF spec humbucker with a nickel cover.

Dog eared P90

I wanted a new dog eared P90 for my Les Paul Jr. I contacted David at Bloodstone and he replied immediately, listened to what I wanted and advised which to go for. He he pick up was delivered quickly. I just installed it and it’s fantastic. Has plenty of drive and bite but cleans up really well to. I asked for a pick up that could ‘do it all’ David provided!

Not helpful

Contacted him to get more info about his product which I own. He was helpful at first, but only responded once. Ignored all my followingEdit: I bought a luthier built guitar, loaded with new pickups from you.Are you saying the 3rd party aspect means you don't support the final buyer?Yes the specs are on the website, but as explained in my 2nd email, they don't either match the marking on the pickup (presumably from you), or what I measured. You "really didn't know...."?Maybe a reply with an attempt of explanation wasn't too much asking?==> 1 star actually more appropriate

Exceptional products and customer service

The work here is incredible, I have ordered 2 wiring harnesses. One a simple 3 way toggle 1V/1T with a push-pull tone. Being my first soldering job David kindly labelled where I should solder everything and answered any questions that I had. The second was a Jazzmaster lead harness and a set of Jazzmaster pickups. David once again came through, helping me customise the pickups to my liking by providing solid advice and support. The pickups transformed my JM! Exceptional customer service I'd recommend him to anyone looking to upgrade or modify their guitar.

Great sound, prices and service

I ordered a set of P90 pickups from Bloodstone and the customer service, price and quality was so good that I returned for a set o strat pickups recently. I asked for custom made variations on both occasions and David offered helpful advice borne of his obvious experience. His suggestions in emails were always backed up with clear explanations which proved to be correct. He made a one off set of strat pickups based loosely on the specs of a really nice set I had played on a friend’s guitar. (Expensive boutique pickups). I described the type of sound I had hoped for and was really pleased with what David came up with. They have character.David is willing to work with you on any crazy idea. I asked for an unusual spec in that the bridge and neck pickups have Alnico 2 polepieces for the unwound strings and Alnico 5 for the wound strings. I love this mix because the A2 seems to tame the shrill top end on the unwound strings and imparts a slightly softer, velvety smooth character that really sings with overdrive. The A5 keeps the stratty hard edge for the wound strings. David also gave me level/unstaggered polepieces which I have found may help with note seperation under overdrive. I also asked for a baseplate under the bridge pickup to add girth to the sound. This isn’t something David does often so he had to order the parts in specially. The attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile was really welcome - David even threw in extra pickup covers in a different colour free of charge. Bloodstone also made a wiring loom with the best instructions on earth! This included a tone pot which selects your choice of capacitors and describes each cap value’s effect on the sound so you can make an informed choice. It’s very reasonably priced - as are the pickups and wiring loom. This all happened within a week and was delivered lightening fast. I’ve fitted the pickups and they are fantastic. They have character and are so much better than many at twice the price. I look forward to gigging them - and I know from experience in rehearsals that they will deliver. Worth trying.
