We ordered Blue Apron as my daughter wanted to learn to cook. Although the recipes were challenging for a novice cook, she was able to do it with me acting as her sous chef. She also was inspired to cook by how interesting and tasty the recipes were. We ordered the four-serving option twice a week. We did encounter some problems. Many of the recipes are quite spicy and there is a wide variety of spice tolerance within our family, from none to "bring it on!" Advice to the cook on how to modify this would be helpful. Also, the recipes assumed that the cook could multitask quite skillfully and felt fully comfortable with chopping, slicing, and peeling. It turned out that the time estimates were quite optimistic! Alternate instructions for people who work sequentially would be helpful. I had to reorder the steps ahead of time for my daughter so items on the stove would not burn while something else was being chopped or a sauce was being created. However, not everyone has a sous chef available! So, if you want to learn how to cook either get some help from an experienced friend or think hard about your abilities and skills when you choose your recipes.
