The Christmas train trip was fantastic. We booked a carriage compartment and brought the family along, including three grandchildren. The atmosphere was filled with festive cheer. The station staff, dressed in historical uniforms, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The merry-go-round at the station was a hit with the kids. The train took us to the next station where Santa's grotto was located. There was a short wait before we met Santa, who was wonderful with the children, giving them presents and chatting with them. On the platform, there was a vintage fun fair that the kids enjoyed immensely. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. The children even had the chance to go inside the engine on our return trip and interact with the drivers, seeing the firebox, etc. Then we explored the engine shed filled with old steam engines. It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and I highly recommend it.
