The Christmas Santa Express journey was truly delightful. We reserved a carriage compartment and brought the family along, including three grandchildren. The atmosphere was filled with festive cheer. The station staff, dressed in period attire, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The merry-go-round at the station was a hit with the kids. The train took us to the next station, where Santa's grotto awaited. There was a brief wait before we met the big guy, who was wonderful with the children, giving them presents and chatting with them. On the platform, there was a vintage funfair that the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. The children even got to explore the engine that was taking us back, interacting with the drivers and seeing the firebox. After that, we enjoyed the return journey and took a stroll around the engine shed filled with old steam engines. It was an immensely enjoyable visit, and I highly recommend it.

The children even had the chance to go inside the engine on our return trip and interact with the drivers, seeing the firebox, etc. Then we explored the engine shed filled with old steam engines. It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and I highly recommend it.
The staff were amazing, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the railway and its history. They took the time to engage with our disabled son, who loves visiting and has been here several times. We attended the steam lights event, which was a magical experience for him. Being able to go on the footplate made his night extra special. I want to express my gratitude to all the staff who contributed to making our visit so memorable and wonderful.
We had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Ghost Train event on Friday, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the eerie arrival of the train to the impressive actors, everything was dramatic, well-organized, and a lot of fun. We had a wonderful evening thanks to everyone’s effort and planning. I highly recommend it — we will definitely return!
We visited the railway for a special event - Lazer Jet Fan Day. It was an incredible experience for our son, meeting an idol who is especially present for those who are neurodivergent. The railway provided a warm welcome, and their support was exceptional. The team, including train drivers, platform staff, and kiosk workers, were all very friendly and engaging. John, who assisted with Lazer Jet and the fans, was outstanding. The railway itself was stunning, informative, and well-maintained. Beautiful stations. I highly recommend visiting the railway.
We attended a wedding here yesterday and had an amazing time! It felt like stepping back in time while watching the world go by. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place as they provide a fantastic experience, 10/10!
This was an excellent experience. The steam light event was remarkable. The venue was fully wheelchair accessible, and the staff were there to assist with boarding and disembarking the train. The service was first-class, from the booking team to the staff on the day. We will definitely return next year.
What a beautiful place, filled with nostalgia. From the moment you arrive, you feel transported to another era. We enjoyed the Christmas evening Pullman train with fantastic food and service. Stepping onto the platform felt like stepping into the 1920s, complete with carol singers at one station and Christmas lights appearing along the journey. It was an exceptional value for an evening.
