I bought an Arbor snowboard for my son for Christmas and mounted Burton Freestyle bindings to the board (ordered at Moosejaw). On Christmas day my son said that he would rather learn to ski. I removed the bindings and shipped the snowboard back to Bob's and binding back to Moosejaw. Bob's originally issued a statement of refund minus shipping. They shortly thereafter hit me with a 50% restocking fee stated that the board was "mounted + used." The board was never "used" and packaged up and returned in new condition. I've never heard that simply installing bindings made a snowboard "used." I've read other reviews for Bob's and taking 50% for a restocking fee isn't an uncommon complaint about Bob's. I guess they figure that most people don't have time to fight it--and they're right. I called and attempted to contact "Bill Gonsalves," the person that reviewed my return and hit me with a 50% restocking fee. They said he wasn't available and didn't know when he ever would be. They were very rude and on the phone and hung up on me. I wouldn't suggest ordering anything from this company, especially anything expensive. I am going to make a formal complaint to the Consumer Division of the Connecticut Attorney General's Office and BBB. This may be a pattern of conduct that they could look into, or at least document. I'm an attorney in Washington. From now on, I will stick to Backcountry, REI, Moosejaw and other reputable companies for large purchases. I've never had any issues with returns with those companies. Moosejaw, as always, accepted the return of the new merchandise (bindings) and issued a full refund. Original Bob's order# 188922 in case they want to reach out to me.
