After I finalized my booking and payment, I was contacted and informed that the ticket I had purchased was a direct flight, which incurs a higher cost. I was then asked to pay an additional £700. I was presented with the option to change to a one-stop flight if I did not wish to pay the extra £700. However, even after agreeing to this change, I was requested to pay an additional £500. None of these extra fees were clearly communicated prior to my original payment. Throughout this ordeal, the terms of the booking were altered post-payment, and I faced constant pressure to pay more for the ticket to be issued. When I inquired about this and requested a refund, my request was denied. Instead, I received a voucher, which could only be utilized for a future booking with the service. --- Second experience (later booking):
Due to receiving a voucher, I had little option but to book with the service again to recuperate any value. During this second booking, the price increased at the time of booking, and I was charged twice. When I questioned the double charge, the service denied any overcharge and asserted that both charges were valid. I later learned that my ticket and my child's ticket had been intentionally separated into different tickets, resulting in multiple charges. This was not made clear beforehand, and the way the charges were presented made understanding the total cost very challenging. When I contested this and sought a refund, the service refused to acknowledge the overcharge. --- Outcome:
Unable to resolve this directly with the service, I escalated the issue to my bank. After review, the bank refunded the entire amount, confirming that the charges could not be justified as presented. --- Additional note:
