I’m writing this to warn other professionals, especially those who already have their own audience.
I used Booksy’s Boost feature, which is advertised as a marketing tool to help attract new clients through Booksy’s marketplace. The expectation is that you pay a commission when Booksy brings you a new customer.
That is not what happened.
Clients of mine went to my personal website (ChristopherFleming.com), clicked my booking button, and scheduled through Booksy. These were my followers and my traffic — not customers discovered through Booksy search or marketing.
Despite that, Booksy still charged a 30% Boost commission on those bookings.
When I disputed it, I was told that Boost is triggered based on how the booking is completed (specific link tracking), not where the client actually came from. In other words, even if you bring the client yourself, Booksy may still take a commission unless the booking follows a very specific technical path.
That is not clearly communicated when Boost is presented as a marketing and discovery tool.
To me, this feels misleading:
I brought the clients
Booksy provided no marketing or discovery
Commission was still taken
Support ultimately denied the claim and stood by their policy.
If you already have your own audience or drive your own traffic, be very careful with Boost. It may end up charging commission on your existing or first time clients that you send to your website, not just new ones Booksy actually brings in.
I’ve since turned Boost off.
I recommend that Booksy clearly disclose that Boost attribution is based on booking mechanics rather than actual client acquisition source.
