My daughter is a student sharing a house with two others. The Landlord changed the tenancy agreement to exclude bills. The three set up an account with a broker to manage all utilities. The landlord incorrectly gave my daughters name as liable party and we have been trying to change it since 17/08/2025.
British gas Lite only respond to requests via their account app or calls. We don't have an app as we don't have an account, they don't answer calls or when they do call it is at a time we cannot answer adn they leave no name or number to contact. A complaint was raised but again they will only respond via app or call. They keep changing their responses, tell us it is sorted one minute and then send demand for payment. Tell us broker needs to contact them and when the broker does contact them British gas do not engage.
British gas have asked for a solicitor letter to prove daughter not liable despite tenancy agreements sent and letter of authority!!!
Avoid them, tell everyone else to avoid them
