My daughter is a student sharing a house with two others. The Landlord changed the tenancy agreement to exclude bills. The three set up an account with a broker to manage all utilities. The landlord incorrectly gave my daughters name as liable party and we have been trying to change it since 17/08/2025.
British gas Lite only respond to requests via their account app or calls. We don't have an app as we don't have an account, they don't answer calls or when they do call it is at a time we cannot answer adn they leave no name or number to contact. A complaint was raised but again they will only respond via app or call. They keep changing their responses, tell us it is sorted one minute and then send demand for payment. Tell us broker needs to contact them and when the broker does contact them British gas do not engage.
British gas have asked for a solicitor letter to prove daughter not liable despite tenancy agreements sent and letter of authority!!!
Avoid them, tell everyone else to avoid them

Worste service ever! Avoid at all costs! No one to talk to over the phone and sort simple issues. Have been on web chat to reactivate my account several times having to send utility bills and lease over and over and still did not sort it out. I have now moved to another provider who sorted everything out within 20 minutes. Worste ever experience i have had and took me weeks to amount to nothing. Again Avoid at all costs!

I'm in a contract with BGL, and I was offered a cheaper deal by Love Energy today, a deal with British gas lite and its cheaper.
I've contacted them to ask why I'm on such a high tariff, and would they find a better deal.
But no.
So let's see what we can do....

Signed up with this company for our village hall. Six months plus without a bill and fed up sending

Signed up with this company for our village hall. Six months plus without a bill and fed up sending pictures of meter as requested only to be told they are waiting for an end reading from our old company. Wish we hadn’t changed supplier can only get to chat online and all I get are platitudes and no solution.
Do not be fooled by lower tariffs as this branch of British Gas is a disgrace.

I succeeded with an Energy Ombudsman complaint against British Gas Lite in 2022 due to a ridiculous billing error. Today (4 years on) they have raised the bill again. Apparently they are "looking into it"......... Simply useless. AVOID

Avoid this service for your business needs.

I strongly advise against using this service for your business. They are unhelpful when issues arise and will continue to bill you even after you've vacated the premises. Despite providing all necessary information to terminate the service, they claim they never received it.

Disappointing Meter Reading Process

I submitted a meter reading, but they couldn't process it. Not long after, I received a bill for over £600. When I contacted them with my reading, they assured me adjustments would be made before any deductions, but that never happened. A second attempt also failed, resulting in a drastically lower adjusted reading of £30. They promised a refund that has yet to arrive. I can't help but wonder how many other small businesses are in a similar situation. They shouldn't hold onto funds that don’t belong to them!

Incompetent Service

I would rate this service with zero stars if possible. They are utterly incompetent. After moving out of a commercial property, I provided all necessary documents to close my account, yet they refuse to do so, billing me since June for not providing the new tenant's email address, which I do not have. They have charged me late fees despite my clear communication about my move. It's absurd to expect me to pay someone else's bills.

Ineffective Customer Support

Completely ineffective - the only way to reach them is through webchat, where you encounter an obstructive and unhelpful attitude. Customer service is virtually non-existent; I strongly advise avoiding this service.
