I booked a car with Budget through Rentalcars.com. When I tried to collect the car their system wouldn’t take payment from my credit card for the deposit. I contacted the card company and was told there was no issue with the card and that a request for payment from Budget hadn’t even been received. The staff were very unhelpful, just kept saying it was the system and they couldn’t help or refund my booking as it was made through Rentalcars.com and not through Budget. I went to Hertz and rented a car without issue using the same credit card proving that the problem wasn’t with my card but with Budget’s system. I have just swapped the Hertz vehicle with a larger car from Sixt for the second half of my vacation, again using the same credit card and again without issue. I will never use Budget Rental Cars again.
