I am a Fastbreak member. Arrived at Houston Airport. Go downstairs directly—no rental agreement. The office shut down, and only one rep was at the counter. 45 people are waiting in line. It took an hour and 54 minutes to get the car, which was past midnight after a long flight.
All my bones hate Budget. Yes, you get what you paid for.

Absolutely would NOT use this company; they took $386.43 offf my credit card for a rental but never gave me a reservation number so I couldn’t pick up a car. I now have to wait for the funds to be released back to my card in 24-48 hours so I can try renting again. Will NOT be budget. They’ve been horrible to talk to and keep giving excuse after excuse why they aren’t giving back my money. I needed a car to visit my uncle who’s dying of cancer and now I’m missing more days to get to see him. Disgusting system Budget!!!

Punta Gorda Budget is the worst rental car location on EARTH. I am convinced it is run by a criminal. It is definitely staffed with idiots.
Booked a one way Prius rental, drop off at Miami International.
Went to the airport to pick it up in the evening, but received a Ford Mach E with less than 60 miles of charge - I did not like this switch. I tried to change to a different vehicle but was told that "Corporate does not allow gas cars to do one way rentals. Only electric." This was obviously a lie.
I was told "you can charge it at any Tesla charger." So this solved that problem as I was visiting my parents and they have a Tesla. But when I get to their place, guess what? The plugs are completely different!
I call Budget - "What I meant was wherever there are Tesla chargers there are ALSO charger for Ford." Yet strangely that rule does not apply at my parent's home! Then I am told EXACTLY which resort has a charger - I went there, MANY Tesla chargers, no others. I spoke to the concierge who actually walked with me around the resort to try and find the charger (turns out that charger had been removed 2 years previously). Call the criminals at Budget AGAIN - "I didn't know the charger had been removed. You can charge at any WAWA Service Station." I drive to a WAWA near my folks - big beautiful new station no charger of any type - I have video of the manager saying they have no charger but some other WAWAs do have! Definitely not all.
Then I found another resort that actually had a proper charger. I had to download the app, link my credit card, etc. FINALLY the car is charging I am thrilled. However then I notice a white circle drawn on one tire, I look more closely - the circle is around a HUGE chunk missing from the tire - I can see the fibers - Obviously Budget had circled it and then rented it to me to drive across the State!
As the vehicle was finally charging, I called roadside assistance which is actually nothing to do with Budget - that was another hour of frustration as the car 'charged'.
After an hour of trying to get assistance (failure) I check the charging process only to find that the range has increased 6 miles in one hour of charging and cost $11! Therefore, to get 200 miles to Miami would require 33 Hours (at this late hour I only had 14 hours before my flight) of charging and cost $366 in electricity!!!!! REMEMBER, I booked and PAID for a Prius.
So, 3 hours after pickup, I return the vehicle to Budget and ask for credit for the electricity and a full refund - huge argument, at which point some scruffy looking dude comes out and says, "I'm the franchisee, what seems to be the problem?" Then he proceeds to refuse any sort of refund and basically tells me to go F myself. I ask, "Are you SURE this is YOUR franchise?" "Fing right it is!"
The next morning as I drove a fine Enterprise car to Miami the actual franchisee called me to apologize and listen to my story. He was very sympathetic. He said he would zero out the charges and although he couldn't refund me the electricity he said he would send me coupons for free rental the next time I return. He also said he was firing the imposter franchisee. So after this long conversation I felt much better. The coupons never arrived - yet another lie.
THEN I reviewed my AMEX bill and see I have been charged the full amount!
THEN TODAY, more than 3 months later I get a letter stating they are charging me $150.75 for the damaged tire with the white magic marker circle around it!
ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL CRIMINALS.
FYI - Enterprise gave me very good service and I made my flight to Bangkok, no thanks to Budget/Avis.

Scam. Scam. Scam. In Iceland. After we declined extra insurance they gave us a vehicle with a damaged door that obviously had not been repaired. It was pitch dark, freezing cold and thousands of feet from terminal to vehicle. They were apparently expecting us to verify their erroneous damage report and walk back to terminal with our bags to report that they gave us a damaged vehicle. Upon returning car they claimed $3,000us in damages for damage that they overlooked ( on purpose??) and then are trying to blame us for. This is public extortion!! Shit company. Shit customer service. Shit process. I would bet my life that they will try to extort us, not fix car, and then screw the next guy. Don’t use Budget.

Reser in the Sacramento office did a bait and switch with my 25 year old son, Jeremy. RESER, suggested he upgrade from a Chevy bolt to a jeep for $25 additional a day so HIS contract changed from $117 to $183 plus taxes so he thought. When he looked at his Discovery credit card, there was a charge for $892.17 for a 3 day rental. Reser charged him $258 a day!! No one on their right mind would agree to this upcharge!! Jeremy has contacted Budget many times but to no avail. His credit has taken a hit and I feel Budget took advantage of him. This was his 1st time renting a car on his own and this was not a pleasant experience for him! He tried to handle it on his own but a year later hd needed Mommy Bear to help. He has learned his lesson not to trust Budget but this is sad because Budget could have had a client for life if they handled this situation better.

I reserve a 4x4 SUV, when I went to pick it up they had a mini van ready for me. This minivan was delivered to them specifically for me from a different location. I OWN A MINIVAN, I don't need to rent one. I will be traveling through the mountains and expecting ice and snow. Now there is no time to rent from anywhere else. I am so angry right now. I will never use these people ever again.

Extremely disappointing and misleading experience.
I rented a car from Budget for 3 days at a quoted rate of $69 per day, expecting a reasonable total. Instead, I was charged $528 with multiple optional services added without clear consent.
These included insurance and roadside assistance that I did not request and did not need, as I was already covered by my credit card. Despite sending multiple emails, I received no response at all.
Yes, I returned the car with an empty tank and I accept the fuel charge — but this does not justify such an excessive final amount.
This feels misleading at best and exploitative at worst. Transparency was completely lacking, and customer service was nonexistent.
I strongly advise future customers to carefully review every line at the counter and not trust the verbal price quoted.
Unfortunately, this experience has permanently damaged my trust in Budget.

A Reservation Nightmare!

This experience was reminiscent of a famous sitcom episode where the concept of reservations is utterly misunderstood. Sure, they can take reservations, but actually honoring them? That's the true challenge! I was caught off guard not once, but twice in a single day, leaving me with $500 in pending transactions that I hope to get refunded. After reading various reviews, I'm seriously concerned about that. I had no idea that two companies were linked, and when I was given the address for the new location, it turned out to be the same as the previous one. I informed the representative that they didn't have any cars available. They insisted that everything was fine and I should just trust them with a deposit. I warned them I’d feel foolish if I arrived to find no car, and guess what? There was no car! Just a confused employee wondering why I returned. I ended up losing a significant amount of money and even a job because of this. I feel they should share in the consequences of this debacle. As a professional, I expect to work with others who uphold certain standards, not individuals lacking basic values. Leaving a negative review feels insufficient; it almost seems too lenient given the circumstances. Use their service only if you have alternative plans, enjoy a challenge, and are prepared for disappointment. And if you reach out to voice concerns, be cautious not to be misled again! The representative I spoke with felt like the epitome of unprofessionalism. I didn’t need a car; I needed a miracle! Consider this a warning!

Disappointing Experience with Electric Vehicle Rental

I rented an electric vehicle for a brief, roughly 10-hour period, expecting it to be the most efficient choice. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but efficient. The vehicle was not fully charged at pickup, and despite assurances from the representative that finding charging stations would be straightforward, that turned out to be incorrect. The first recommended charging station was restricted to resort guests. The second station was out of order. The third station worked technically, but after an hour of charging, the battery only increased by 3%. I couldn't find the charging station at the designated location, and the final option required an app download—something I couldn’t do without cell service. To make matters worse, I was charged an extra fee upon return because the vehicle’s battery was at 30%, despite my considerable efforts to charge it under challenging and misleading circumstances. This experience was frustrating, time-consuming, and costly. With the incomplete charge at pickup, inaccurate guidance on charging options, and the additional fee, this rental did not meet reasonable expectations. I will not choose to rent an electric vehicle from this company again and would advise others to think carefully before proceeding.
