I’d like to raise a concern about how the token system currently works on Builderscrack.
As tradies, we pay for tokens to connect with homeowners and quote on jobs. However, homeowners can connect with multiple tradies at once, and often they simply choose the cheapest quote. While that’s understandable from their perspective, it means the rest of us lose the tokens we paid for, even if we provided detailed quotes and professional communication.
What’s more frustrating is when homeowners connect with several tradies and then withdraw the job without even having a conversation. Despite no discussion or opportunity to quote properly, the tokens are still deducted from our accounts.
This system puts all the financial risk on tradies. We invest money just for the opportunity to quote, but there’s no protection if the job is withdrawn or if the homeowner doesn’t engage.
I believe there should be:
• A refund of tokens if the homeowner withdraws the job before meaningful contact.
• A limit on how many tradies a homeowner can connect with per job.
• Better accountability for homeowners who repeatedly post and withdraw jobs.
Builderscrack is a great platform with real potential, but the current system feels unfair to tradies who are paying to use it.
