Very long story short - my apartment got very cold when the temperature started dropping. Edmonton gets very cold as anyone living there would know. Complained about it - got a request for a contractor to come in a month and a half later to see about fixing it. That would be middle/end of December! Was going to bed with clothes on. The only resolution for me was to move out. -30deg is cold outside and I could see my breath inside. Their own policy says they can’t transfer apartments within 6 months of a new lease. Yes I asked to be transferred. I made arrangements to move apartments and then when I served my notice to quit my lease early, they were like ohh you can transfer now. Too late! I’ve already paid for another place! When it came down to it, they didn’t care that I was cold as hell and losing constant sleep. All they did was shove my rental agreement in my face demanding money. It ended up costing me over $3K to get out of that lease. If you are looking to rent from boardwalk just remember, these guys are asset management companies and they don’t give a s*** about you or your health and well being. They want your money. When you leave your apartment they will nickel and dime you to keep as much of your security deposit as they can. In fact they will try and cost you the most money they can squeeze from you and then some. You can try the RTDRS process but they got that all locked down too. It’s hard to win a battle going up against something that is already holding all the winning cards. Beware!
