I took my 91 year old father to Canada post to verify in person that it was him who required mail forwarding. I had paid a week prior online for mail forwarding service but was required to take him in person which I did today. My dad provided his Canadian citizenship card which has picture ID as proof that it was him. The person behind the desk said: "no this is not acceptable. Bring passport". I asked why as my dad himself was standing in front of him, with picture ID in hand. The rude man just said no, bring passport. The government of Canada permits people to become citizens of Canada but Canada Post does not accept that! Really! Has anyone told Canada post that to be eligible to get a Canadian passport, you FIRST need to become a citizen? This truly is appalling. Not only was my elderly parent made to feel useless but Canadian issued picture ID isn't good enough for canada post. My payment online for mail forwarding service was taken immediately a week ago.... now we just don't have service for which we paid for. Oh and good luck trying to file a complaint.
