We rented a car from GB Rent via Discover Cars. The booking and pickup were smooth, but we declined the extra insurance at pickup because we had our own full coverage.We were informed that a credit card was required for the deposit, but in the end, the deposit was accepted on a debit card in my name (even though the rental was booked under my partner’s name). This was clearly a breach of their own terms – but it was accepted by their staff on site.On return, we were 45 minutes late due to traffic. No representative was present, and the car was returned with a full tank and in the same condition. We took full photos at pickup and drop-off.A return report was sent to us after we had already left, listing various scratches and paint chips – all of which we don’t recall causing and were likely pre-existing. Fortunately, we reacted within 24 hours, sent our photos and explanation, and they responded quickly, confirming that no new damage was found and the deposit would be refunded in full.🟢 Positive: Quick communication, fair handling in the end.🔴 Negative: Pressure to buy insurance, unclear acceptance of debit card, no one present at return, unclear damage report.Tip: Take your own photos, be assertive, and respond immediately if you receive any post-return report.In the end, everything turned out well – but only because we stayed calm, documented everything, and replied quickly.
