My husband and I took our first bus tour trip in Italy last month with Central Holidays. All in all I’d say it was a fantastic trip with amazing tour guides, a new bus, interesting tours etc. Our tour was 8 days beginning in Venice and ending in Rome with the option of continuing to the Almalfi coast. There were, however, some things that could use improvement. Many of us felt the hotel in Florence had drawbacks. The bathroom shower in particular did not seem very safe. And we weren’t crazy about the location of the hotel near the train station. Also and most bothersome was the ambiguity on the itinerary papers concerning certain optional tours. Most of us thought we could book a tour of the Coliseum and Forum when we got there. And we could not. And we wanted to stay longer at St Peter’s Basilica at the end of our tour but we were led out by the guide. So some disappointments. The Trevi Fountain was being cleaned for next year’s jubilee but that was no one’s fault just unfortunate for us. Also we thought we’d see the inside of the Pantheon but that was not included in the walking tour. So I think the itinerary could be more specific. When I asked my travel agent about certain bookings she said we needed to wait until we got there. So I just think the details could be improved upon.
