Epic Customer Service Disappointment

Our experience with Champion has not been a good one. It took several tries to reach out to Champion to get some semblance of customer service. I do not understand how this company has managed to have so many positive customer service reviews when we have had such a terrible experience. There is an extreme lack of communication from Champion to clients that are trying to solve problems and reach resolutions when there is an issue with their installations. Sadly, our worst experience has come from the national customer care director.After waiting a couple of months, our windows arrived. The install guys arrived on schedule and proceeded to tear out the three windows they were replacing. Once the windows and framing were torn out they measured where the new windows were going to go and found that there was a five-inch difference in size, the new ones would not fit. We were told it would be 2-4 weeks for a new window. I understand that it takes time to create a product, but I don't understand why there isn't an expedited option for when Champion makes mistakes. Now my home, in the mid-west winter, is boarded up with plywood. It is significantly colder inside- I can only imagine what our heating bill will be like. The window that's boarded up is our only view of the outside on that level of the house. We are all already working and going to school from home, now we can't even see outside. It is sad and dreary. If only the people getting paid to do the job measured first! Isn't that the first rule of building!?After a week of trying to contact someone from customer service daily, our only interaction with someone has been on the chatbox on the website. The representative that "helped" us, made it sound like Champion cared and that someone would listen to our concerns. A week later nothing had come of that conversation or multiple voicemails that we've left to customer service. Finally, on a Saturday morning, Nicholas, "the national director of customer service", who claims to have no boss, told us that he could give us a $150 gift card for our troubles. He said he would investigate our situation further and call me back on Tuesday.On Tuesday I did not get a phone call. I got one on Wed. though, where Nicholas said we could now, in the spirit of Christmas, have a $300 gift card emailed to us. He could not tell us where our windows were in the manufacturing process, only that they were being made. He didn't even know what kind of windows we'd ordered. He said it was impossible to track the process of the windows being made & that they would be ready when they were ready (paraphrased). He was uncaring about our situation and wasn't helpful in solving the overall problem, the lack of windows. There was a heated conversation that ended with him saying he would not be helping us anymore and hanging up on my husband. A representative of the company should display better composure and at least pretend to care. Our local Champion guy, John, who is significantly more helpful than the people higher up the chain, called and let us know exactly when the windows were scheduled to be on the truck. Amazing. Suddenly we can track windows!I understand that people make mistakes. The fact that the window was messed up isn't the end of the world. I'm angry & disappointed at the EPIC lack of customer service from such a large company. Someone makes a hefty salary to make customers feel heard & cared for & in my opinion, they are failing miserably at their job. Other large companies have outsourced customer service, maybe this is something that Champion should look into if they aren't able to handle the volume of calls they get. I'm not expecting anything for free, but adequate customer care, a discount for their mistake, and an acknowledgment of error would go a long way. Spending thousands of dollars on high-end windows was a big commitment on our part and we are beyond disappointed in Champion. The houses on our street are at the age where everyone is starting to replace their windows. In fact, I referred someone to Champion after our great sales experience and they ordered windows for their entire house! Obviously, that is in hindsight. I wish I had not referred them to anyone. I do wonder if I will still get the referral bonus. Ha! Now my neighbors and people walking down the street comment on our plywood asking what happened and I continue to tell them about our experience with Champion. I noticed that there was no yard sign left behind to advertise the "excellent" work. Fortunately, I only ordered three windows instead of the whole house.I recommend any OTHER company.
