There is a clear disregard for compensating the individuals who perform the actual work, whether on time or at all. The representatives provide nothing but excuses, often misleading about payment timelines. This is certainly an untrustworthy organization that resorts to deceitful practices for profit.
This service shows no regard for compensating the individuals who perform the work. I have been misled about the timing of my payment for a job completed in December. Now, I’m being told that their office is closed and they won't address payments for current and past workers. This is highly unprofessional, and I cannot recommend engaging with such entities.
What an amazing experience with Characters for Hire ! Such a wonderful company, Very attentive, detailed & thorough, not to mention the events are one of a kind ! Overall great people that values customer service ! Greatly appreciate them & would recommend to anyone that needs any character at all !
It was my first time working for this team and it was such a fun experience bringing this special event to the public. The entire team worked together and I hope to be a part of this experience again in the future. I highly recommend Characters for Hire.
We are a team of Unpaid workers who, years later are STILL waiting on payment from Characters for Hire.Characters for hire goes out of their way to censor and hide every negative review, claiming its defamation when it's all true. Their lies, threats, dishonesty, gaslighting, and bullying has become a common behavior reported from many people. We are posting due to the deliberate actions of Characters for Hire, who are obstructing communication and evading compliance with a COURT ORDER.Over the course of 5 years, 4 separate judges ruled in our favor, each ordering Characters for Hire to pay.However, they have repeatedly failed to comply, utilizing tactics designed to delay and frustrate the enforcement of the judgment.Including: dodging and blocking communication, refusing to provide a valid legal address, requesting unjustified adjournments (coming to court unprepared), missing scheduled court/trial dates, and offering countless excuses to avoid fulfilling their legal obligations. They’ve (unsuccessfully) tried to vacate the judgment three times, providing no supporting evidence to back up their claims.Despite our repeated and documented attempts to secure payment, Characters for Hire continues to engage in behavior aimed at evading their legal obligations. They have shown a blatant disregard for the law and have apparently no competent legal team to counsel on their obligations.Their defense in court is that they have no prior association with me, that they have relocated to Florida during covid (even though their BBB is actively listed in New York), and that they were unaware of the lawsuit (despite clear evidence of proper notice), their claims are not only inaccurate but demonstrably false. Every claim they have made I had to disprove, further weakening their credibility and as a professional business entity.Moreover, they are withholding our rightful compensation for multiple services completed years ago, unless I sign an illegal document agreeing to their terms, which constitutes criminal extortion and coercion. It is important to note that they have NOT presented these actions in court, likely to avoid further legal repercussions. They have done this to others who spoke up about the illegal activity that Characters for Hire gets away with.Characters for Hire is in clear violation of the Freelance Isn’t Free Act, numerous labor laws, consumer protection laws, the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA), the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC Act), and anti-SLAPP statutes.They have actively manipulated public perception by suppressing negative reviews—through flagging, reporting, or hiding unfavorable feedback—and by using threats and withholding paychecks to control what is said. They also enforce people to leave reviews in order to get paid.In some cases, they’ve even created fake names and profiles to publish defamatory content, which constitutes fraud, tortious interference, and misuse of intellectual property.This pattern of conduct is not isolated. My kids were so excited to be selected to participate in the movie premiere with Characters for Hire, and it was such a super fun experience from start to finish. The director was organized, professional, and easy to work with — we can’t wait to collaborate with them again!
