In 2019 I took some time looking at the details for a new log burner and brought a Charnwood c series 8. Technology had changed from my previous log burner from using fire bricks to a steel backplate and as I was really pleased as I thought there would be no maintenance regarding it. After one winter’s use the backplate had warped and after asking twice I got a replacement under warranty. In 2022 I noticed the back plate warping again but left it. In 2023 I was advised by my sweep to think about getting it replaced again. I contacted Charnwood and they have said I have been running the fire too hot but I have a thermometer so I know we don’t plus we only use the fire for two hours until the central heating comes on. I regularly get it serviced/cleaned. At noPoint does it state that backplates will likely need replacing every 3-5yesrs (£90) . I have asked that they inform people of this in their literature but they have not said they will. This relates to all the c-series with back plates . I’m not now entirely sure if this is a fault.
