I joined Checkatrade as a tradesperson expecting fair treatment and transparent support for small businesses. My experience has been disappointing. The terms and conditions are very restrictive for companies using the platform, and there is limited flexibility when issues arise. Policies feel enforced one-sidedly, with little consideration for genuine concerns raised by contractors.
The platform relies heavily on paid advertising and lead generation, which is costly. I also found the ongoing sales and upsell contact excessive and disruptive to running my business.
Communication and support did not resolve my problems in a fair or timely way, and the contractual setup makes it difficult for small businesses to challenge decisions.
I’d recommend comparing other options and not relying on this platform as your only source when choosing a tradesperson.
