The company were very fast and responsive. Within 18 hours of me contacting them, I had a full assessment, I fully understood what needed doing, I had a quote, and my roof was fixed by guys who were lovely, polite, and who went above and beyond to get the job done well.
I had a great experience using Checkatrade. They quickly linked me up with a plumber who was prompt, professional, and very reliable. He arrived on time, carried out the work to a high standard, and made sure everything was left clean and tidy afterwards.
We were in need of a plumber to fix a leak in the bathroom... didnt know any to call. We were able to post our job request on Checkatrade and we had 2 responses within a couple of hours. We chose our plumber after reading the reviews on Checkatrade and booked them through the app.
Very happy with the experience and will use Checkatrade without hesitation in future.
Checkatrade is very useful for searching for tradespeople and contacting them if you need some improvement works doing on your home such as painting and decorating or any other jobs.

For customers choosing where to find an engineer, I would think twice about relying on this platform alone. From my experience on the inside as a tradesperson, the way the system is set up can affect how fairly issues are handled and, in turn, the overall experience customers get.
I joined Checkatrade as a tradesperson expecting fair treatment and transparent support for small businesses. My experience has been disappointing. The terms and conditions are very restrictive for companies using the platform, and there is limited flexibility when issues arise. Policies feel enforced one-sidedly, with little consideration for genuine concerns raised by contractors.
The platform relies heavily on paid advertising and lead generation, which is costly. I also found the ongoing sales and upsell contact excessive and disruptive to running my business.
Communication and support did not resolve my problems in a fair or timely way, and the contractual setup makes it difficult for small businesses to challenge decisions.
I’d recommend comparing other options and not relying on this platform as your only source when choosing a tradesperson.

We found a great carpenter who quoted an excellent rate. He arrived on time as promised and we loved the job. Andy rehung an internal door from opening outwards to inwards. All the holes were beautifully filled and we now have a local carpenter to use for future jobs. Andy from Barnes Carpentry is great.

I would like to install new lights in the sitting room and bedrooms. Pictures 1 and 2 show the current lights, and pictures 3 and 4 show the lights I would like to have installed.
