Got a new Citibank AA Global Mastercard... charge $5000 in 4 months to get 90K bonus miles. Except any significant charge is immediately declined with no recourse, confirmed by CSERV. ("you can call us from the vendor and get it authorized while there", if I and they have a lot of time to wait.) I got the card, activated it, used it a few days, then tried to charge a $1200 car repair, declined twice. I used a different Citibank card, with no bonus miles, and it worked fine. So unless one can charge $5000 in 4 months using small charges, it's useless, corporate sponsored scam to get your $350! CSERV tells me I can call them for pre-authorization before I use it for any large purchase, every time. But they won't tell me what the limit I can charge without doing that is. It's quite embarrassing when the card is declined trying to pay. The card offer sounded good, like most scams. I will likely not make the spending retirement now with only small purchases, cancel the card and have to eat the $350. Lesson learned. I'll get a Chase card and if they are better will cancel all Citibank cards.
