I engaged a moving service for an interstate relocation from one state to another. I signed a contract and paid a deposit for the movers to arrive on the scheduled date. However, the day before my move, I was informed that the movers would only come on a later date, which was unacceptable. On the day of the move, the driver failed to call as promised and, when I reached out, I learned he was significantly delayed. Customer support was unhelpful and indifferent to the fact that my move was postponed by two days. When the driver finally contacted me late at night, he offered no explanation or apology. Given the lack of communication and reliability, I had already started looking for other options. This service is irresponsible, and I advise against using them.
Worst experience ever. I moved from Washington DC to North Carolina. I think that the main issue is that there were a lot of hidden fees that popped up last minute. They do an estimate but don't want to come and actually see your things so that the estimate is accurate. I asked several times if they wanted a video or pictures. They make promises they can't keep because they us third party contractors and they don't communicate with each other. On the day of my move the third-party contractors 51 States Relocation showed up and were shocked with how much stuff I had because they thought it was a smaller job. I don't know why? Then I was stuck having to pay almost double what my estimate was because I needed way more boxes than they anticipated and had way for more household items. They also packed things they weren't supposed to and now I am left to figure out how to ship them back to the owner of my last apartment. They didn't label anything, so I have to go through each box and figure it out. No organization. Also, the contractors told me one thing on site and then it wasn't honored during delivery. Then it wasn't explained that in order to get my things delivered in less than a week I needed to pay an expedited fee. I wrote down a date a week out, and they date wasn't honored because apparently, it's the starting point to get my things but not the actual possible date they can arrive. They never give you the direct number of the third-party contractor, so you never know what's going on or where your things are. I had to beg for the direct number. Bottom line is I would never ever use this company again. There is a lot of fine print, and they claim they have no control over when your stuff will arrive. They charge for everything including distance from the street to your apartment/home. But you don't know that until the moment they arrive and then you are stuck. The customer service is horrible, both at Costal and 51 states. They kept placating me and not answering my questions and the woman at 51 states was very rude and condescending to me. I spent some much money and for horrible service. Horrible experience!
