Been with this union for many years and feel completely let down by them! The company I work for was told only 6 months ago after restructuring and redundancies that there was now a 5 year business plan in place, checked over and verified by the union and a specialist outside party and yet now we find ourselves on the brink of closure and our area rep seems to have no clue or fight in him whatsoever! Negotiations took place with a temporary MD representing the company, a man who has no idea whatsoever of the company and its work force and no deligation from our actual managers were allowed to attend to fight for the company’s survival. He should’ve insisted on there participation if he wanted the best outcome for his members but apparently never said a word just like in later meetings between HR and the internal union reps he has just sat there barely speaking (according to my own dept rep) I feel we have been badly let down and misrepresented by the union and fear now it’s too late for the correct outcome and survival of this once worldwide known steel supplier!
