I genuinely hate leaving a bad review but I must be honest with my experience in hopes that it might help others in the same situation. I moved from CT to MT which is quite far. I got a great deal with Country wide relocation. When the movers came to collect my things in storage in CT they tried to up charge me an additional $700 (I had about studio amount of things minus a bed) Country wide relocation knew exactly what i had and quoted me but its a third party that both picks up and delivers which I did not know.I was told my things would be to me within 9-14 days. I waited 31 days in a completely empty apartment waiting with no updates on my things.My stuff was picked up Nov 18 and delivered on Dec 19th. My stuff was both damaged and missing. They lost a huge lamp I had on inventory as well as all of the legs to my couches (there were three) and broke my night and TV media stand very badly.I have been trying to get in contact to see what can be done about my damaged and missing items. This whole experience has been exhausting and disheartening. Please please do better research than I did and do not use this company.
To begin I provided my inventory over the phone as is standard for this company. They quoted me at around a total of $2800 for a move to Florida. It seemed reasonable with $700 paid upfront and the rest split between pick up and drop off. I am also military so I made sure to request weight tickets for the movers and was assured I would have them. 1. The movers showed up with no weight tickets insisting that they had never been told they were needed. It took a painful week of calls back and forth to ensure I received anything resembling a weight ticket. 2. When the movers showed up they were surprised at the amount of items I had (which matched my inventory) and then informed me that it would be $4500 total, not the previously quoted $2100 for the move. They said because countrywide only provides them with the estimated space, and the estimated space countrywide gave me was far too small apparently. 3. Countrywide assured me the movers could recieve card for payment, this was incorrect they could only take money orders or cashiers check. Obviously, I did not have either of these ready and this led to more headaches. 4. I am still waiting on any form of electronic receipt or invoice to use for records, despite being on the phone constantly with their partner "star line trucking" for a week and being assured that its going to be sent to me. Overall, it seems this company purposefully gives low quotes to bring in business and then when the movers shows up and double the price they say "its only an estimate" and you are stuck paying double what was quoted. Management was unhelpful and just repeated that the quote is "only an estimate" despite a 100% increase. They are either scam artists or grossly incompetent, I am not sure which. Either way, do not use, especially for military members
I am happy with the process from beginning to end. Countrywide did see to it that my move was a success. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was because it took a few more days than I was told, I would give 4.5 stars if I could. I moved 1700 miles and the delivery took 15 days.
