The system seems to function adequately, but there are many filtration systems that filter regular temperature water. I purchased this specifically for cold water, but we find the fan runs loudly for over 30 minutes after dispensing just a glass of cold water. My spouse prefers it out of the kitchen. I ordered it right before leaving for a long vacation and ended up using it past the 30-day return window. I wish I had known how loud the cooling fan would be. I would return it if I could, but now I'm stuck with it.
