I enjoy watching the lessons on decorating by Rita but I was looking for something with more fundamentals and less specialty shopping. There are so many references to having things custom made, hiring expensive experts and shopping at places that are not accessible, it’s hard to apply much of the advice. Still, there are many tidbits of information on what order to do things and “Don’t be afraid to…”, I think the purchase was worth it. It’s only one class of many, I may be able to find more applicable information as I watch more. Just be prepared to feel envious and discouraged at times if you are a normal person with a human budget. I still like her.
Last year I bought Rita Konig’s Ultimate Guide to Interior Design. I have watched and rewatched it. Not only is it informative but I found Rita’s relaxed friendly manner so soothing to watch. Each lesson is a good length and the course really does guide you through the whole process of decorating in an easy to digest format. I have followed this up by buying the newly released Advanced Guide to Interior Design, which is absolutely brilliant. You get a really lovely insight into Rita’s design process whilst redesigning her own home. Which is incredible btw. I’ve rewatched many of the lessons already. I thoroughly recommend both courses for anyone with an interest in interiors.
The class with Tess Newall is everything one could want from this talented young woman. The quality is excellent however more close-ups from overhead needed as opposed to lovely angle (from the side) which makes it difficult to see the tiny detail.
I was looking for a course on designing your own cutflower patch when I stumbled across Sarah Raven's cut and come again course by Create Academy.I can not recommend the course highly enough !!! It is very informative ,full of great advice and tips, to plan a year ahead with plenty of blooms to enjoy. You will find everything you need from planning, growing ,planting ,cutting ,conditioning ,all the way through arranging your flowers .Sarah also shares her favorite varieties in the course .Thank you for the great experience, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now ,time to watch it again to take notes!
I started with Sarah Raven and Arthur Parkinson's courses on container gardening. They're both outstanding. As an experienced gardener, there were parts that I skimmed over, but they both delivered above and beyond my expectations and I've learned so much. I'm considering several of Arthur's combinations for next year - this summer I'm using one of Sarah's suggestions - or a close approximation, based on what I can get in Canada. Sarah has such a simple way of putting things (eg. bride, bridesmaid, gatecrasher) that I was able to immediately realize what was missing or had gone wrong with my containers in previous years. I can't wait to see how my containers improve over the next few seasons.Unlike the longer term results of those courses, I've achieved instant results with the Willow Crossley's Floristry course. Really it's astounding. I've never done more than plonk flowers in a vase and now suddenly I'm able to make beautiful arrangements. I've even learned enough to see what could be improved next time. I'd love to see more floristry courses, as well as more information (a downloaded sheet would be helpful) on conditioning different flowers.I never thought I had an interest in interior design, but I've watched a few of the Rita Konig lessons and I may change my mind. They are interesting and relaxing - a perfect way to de-stress - as have the others. The production values, editing, etc. of all the courses are excellent.I'm looking forward to Dan Pearson, Jason Ingram, and so many other courses - and seeing where Create Academy goes next
Sarah Raven's course is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. It's remarkable that this lovely woman's life's work is accessible and so easy to follow. It's the first of the courses I'm embarking on after purchasing the annual package. I'm really pleased. Looking forward to my next course.
I really enjoyed Gemma’s course. It starts from the very basics and whilst I have made a few blinds, cafe/counter curtains, I found it very helpful. She explained the method well, the purpose of each stitch type and it was so useful to have a visual reference. I hope she does another with an interlined curtain, London blind 🙏. I have subscribed and am working my way through all of the content
