Having visited here for lunch a couple of months previous (which was fantastic) I booked a table of 6 for Sunday lunch with friends we hadn’t seen for several years. Really friendly greeting, and shown our table, and told a server would be over in a few minutes to take our drinks order, after 15 minutes I had to go to the bar to ask for service. The young lady was very pleasant and apologetic for not getting our order. Drinks arrived fairly promptly along with the Sunday food menu. We asked the young lady if the music could be turned down a bit as was finding difficult to hear conversation at our table. Surely, the music should be just background, not at a level which drowns out conversation at your table. In fairness this was turned down after 3/4 minutes which was great. We gave our order and food arrived about 10 minutes later. Sadly, all a bit…meh!! and the gammon on the mixed roast was nothing more than a rasher of back bacon. Annoyingly for a couple of our party there was no lamb roast on the menu?? Puzzling or what??. Also, be aware, you only get a small jug of gravy with your meal, which really isn’t sufficient to cover your roast, and extra jugs are £1.95 each. Again, about 15/20 minutes after finishing our meals we had to look for a server to clear our table, and ask for the dessert menu. These arrived and were at best okay. Sadly, for the third time we had to find a server to get our bill, which when it came quite promptly found they add 10% service charge for tables of 6 or more, which would be fine if we’d had good service. A table next to us had 4 people and they were attended far better than us (restaurant wasn’t even busy!!) so feel this was a bit cheeky. I believe 3 stars is about as much as I can give, and deserved.
