I'm by no means well off, and had never imagined I'd become a 'shareholder' in companies until Mission launched through Crowdcube. I decided to support them and just bought a small number of their shares. The process was straightforward and Crowdcube made it clear throughout that there was no guarantee of profit, so I was aware of the risk attached to my investment. If a company's funding target isn't reached, buyers are notified and their money refunded quickly - which has happened a couple of times
People write things like, 'great experience investing for the first time' etc but that's the experience at the beginning of the shiny journey. Issue is, companies raise money and then that's it, company fails to give updates, Crowdcube state they are chasing, but nothing happens... until you read the striking off notice. Crowd investing through any site is a mugs game. You may end up with a little perk, but the loss of investment (and that's total return is very rarely going to sit above base rate).I was investing in CC before fees so now you're basically handing them cash for providing an investor finder service and then near zero governance. Simply avoid is my advice
