I bought the CyclePlus H1 arm-based heart rate monitor to extend the usable battery life of my Amazfit Active 2 for long endurance events.I’ve now used it in two genuine long-duration outings: the Salzburg Marathon mountain event and Day 1 of the Ultra X Maroc 110 km. In both cases, the CyclePlus remained connected and showed no battery warnings after more than 12 hours of continuous use. That alone puts it ahead of most alternatives I’ve tried.It also pairs easily with gym equipment and displays heart-rate data directly on the machines’ screens, which is a very useful bonus. The armband itself is comfortable and unobtrusive, even over long periods.The only slightly fiddly aspect is charging, as it uses a proprietary two-pin magnetic connector. That said, this is no different in principle from similar armband monitors (such as Polar) that also rely on proprietary connectors. Having used both, I actually prefer the CyclePlus — primarily because of its endurance. I need equipment that lasts a full day, and this does so reliably.More recently, I’ve paired it with a Suunto Ambit 3 Peak, where it has performed exceptionally well. It connects happily to older devices via Bluetooth, which is a big plus if you’re not running the very latest hardware.I’ve had minor issues with the iOS app, but since the unit connects directly to my watches and gym equipment, this hasn’t affected real-world use at all.Overall, this is a very comfortable, highly usable piece of kit, and in practical terms it’s far superior to the Garmin chest strap I own — which is less comfortable and largely locked into the Garmin ecosystem.After-sales support has also been excellent. After losing the proprietary charging cable, I contacted the company directly. Without hesitation, they shipped two replacement cables free of charge.I genuinely can’t fault this device. It’s my first CyclePlus product, but based on how well it performs and how good the support has been, I’d happily trust their other equipment too.
