Today I received results for CILS cittadinanza B1 and extremely happy that not only I passed but did it with excellent marks. I have been studying Italian from 0 for 6 months as a part of the group and then individually with Nicholas and Selene from Dante. They were instrumental in helping me to learn Italian and prepare for the exam. Before going with Dante I was trying to do it on my own and just with an Italian tutor. The biggest benefit of the Dante program is the structure, materials, amazing teachers and focus on the exam and your goal.
The course was supposed to prepare us for the test B1 for citizenship, but the whole course when I asked about preparation, the answer was "non ti preoccupare", like just follow the course and all will be good. In the end of the course my level is A1-A2. We didn't practice grammar, we rather were studying lots of useless words. - the teachers themselves were good, responsive and very kind, the last teacher is adjusting exercises on request- but the structure of the course is not done well, it doesn’t focus on important things, like learning grammar better, there are no exercises that are designed for the test. It’s only by the initiative of a teacher or a student, we did exercises that involve practices closer to the reality of the exam. Otherwise, we learnt words and topics that are unnecessary. Rather this time could be dedicated to usage of articles, congregations. Only when we asked, teacher needed to prepare extra documents, extra explanations, which was relevant for all the students, but it wasn’t part of the course. - the level of language is very different in the group. Some already have Spanish and it’s different compare to other students, so the dynamic of the group becomes not coherent. - Through several months we had 3-4 teachers, and also students were changing, which was distracting for the dynamic of the group and the pace.
Hi, I am very disappointed with you guys. Got my money and I couldn’t getting in the classes because I was trapped. The person that did helps me online gave the wrong time. I was VERY clear that I live in Los Angeles and I only could take the classes after 7pm LA time. They NEVER refund my money. SHAME ON YOU GUYS!
The instructor was very helpful and she attended to our questions and inquiries. The content and show slides were good but could’ve been better. What I disliked is that the recordings of the lessons will not be available forever. They will disappear after a period of 15 days. There are no quizzes or exams which I think are essential for language learning and the only evaluation I will receive is from the tests that are on the platform. There is no push to be under pressure to study. One important thing to mention is that the salesperson that reached out to me convinced to join the course while she didn’t mention that it had already started 2 weeks ago. She mentioned that it will not affect my evaluation or something. I paid for 2 weeks that I did not attend. I also think that the name Dante en Linea is a bit misleading. It is not part of the Dante institute based in Italy and the prices are expensive in comparison with other options.
Overall the experience has been very good. Professors are very kind and they help you improve the speaking skills by encouraging conversations. If I may, I would like to add a few suggestions in here to improve the overall experience. First, I it would be nice to have more in depth grammar sections. Specially at beginner levels. Speaking from my own experience I felt that sometimes I couldn’t improve my conversation skills further because there was some grammar knowledge missing. Secondly, I would prefer if the school could avoid changing professor in the middle of the course or adding new people to it. This disrupts the whole learning experience and also make people loose precious learning time that they have already paid for. Finally, a final test and diploma at the end of each course to better test and share our skills would be nice to have.
Dante online is very complete, I have exercises to practice on the platform, the teacher Antonella is very nice and very punctual, Jenny, the person with whom I manage the schedules, is very affectionate and very flexible, although I take private classes alone, she quickly attends to my needs. requests and they are very practical!! I love
