CAUTION. I purchased a four-year-old home from the original buyer. I downsized from a much larger property to reduce upkeep and energy costs, but THIS HOUSE IS FREEZING AND COSTING MORE TO HEAT THAN MY PREVIOUS ONE!!! Considering their supposed 'better than most' reputation, it seemed like a safe choice, but their guarantees are worthless. As we are not the original buyers, we don’t have documentation for fixtures and fittings, and even if we did, it’s only for two years. The ten-year warranty they offer is supposedly structural, but this doesn’t seem to cover windows and doors. The guarantee for the windows is irrelevant since they claim their supplier went bust. They won’t provide the company name or address either. It took months to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate during the purchase. Now I understand why. They seem to rely on generic certification, allowing them to install subpar materials to save money. There are serious drafts from the windows, and we are cold and spending a fortune to NOT be warm. They want nothing to do with it. If you are considering buying one of these homes, you should be VERY cautious. The standard letter received means NOTHING. Absolutely disappointing!
