Debenhams deserve zero stars! Please keep away from this crooked company! if you do buy from them I really hope you don't need customer services because it is just run by a useless AI system that they've named Finn! No human assistance and they provide no phone number!! I received no help whatsoever! I'll be returning my order for a refund as soon as received! If I don't receive it or a refund, I'll open a case with PayPal! Debenhams don't even bother to reply to their Trust Pilot reviews and so are definitely not transparent!
Original Review 13th April: Watch out when you order especially for the first time! Debenhams automatically sign you up for their Delivery Protection fee, it depends on what you buy to how much you're charged! I got charged £3.12 (administered by a separate organisation in the US). Not much money but it's the principle! I only spotted this after my first order had gone through!
The fee is pre-ticked, requiring customers to actively opt-out if they do not want the coverage, so do be careful because the tick box is well disguised and easily missed!
They are being very devious here because UK consumer law requires retailers to ensure goods arrive safely, undamaged and even if an item is lost (despite any extra protection paid by the customer) Debenhams have a legal obligation to give you a refund or a replacement. If you did not want the delivery protection service, you need to contact Debenhams to request a refund of the fee, they do not have a phone number, but you can get them on WhatsApp or email them. I've just emailed them, in case I have to open a PayPal case and I will need the email evidence for this. I'll feedback on here if I get a reply and/or a refund! (See update above, they're worse than I thought).
Stupid me I forgot to actually check Debenhams reviews on TrustPilot before ordering, I should have known better because I now realise after looking on here, after ordering, that their most recent reviews are dreadful! Debenhams brand is definitely not what it used to be! How very disappointing!
