On the whole, DFDS is the best ferry service compared to the competition on the Dover to France routes, I will always opt for them. However, the service has slowly got worse; the duty-free shops are often closed extremely early compared to their advertised times. This isn’t the first time I have experienced it and it’s been at both Dunkirk and Calais, Neither can we get some food while waiting for the boats nor stock up on duty-free when waiting in the lanes. Yesterday, on the way out, the Wi-Fi wasn’t working, and my phone network was trying to connect to the onboard phone network, which is expensive to use what could easily lead a bill to over £200. On the return journey, the ship’s safety doors failed to open, and even with the crew entering the code to manually release the door, that didn’t work. We had to go to a different part of the ship and use that door instead
