My experience with DHgate has been extremely disappointing and stressful.
I purchased a phone (€144.28 – Order 315351670437). Although the item was delivered, it was completely defective: it could not make calls, send SMS, or properly access applications and accounts. In other words, it did not perform its essential function as a phone.
I provided clear photos and videos as evidence. Instead of resolving the issue, the seller repeatedly used delaying tactics (“wait”, “let me check”) without offering any real solution. This continued for days, creating frustration and customer exhaustion.
The only “solution” offered was to return the item to China at my own expense (over €30) and entirely at my own risk, with an explicit warning that if the package did not arrive, I would receive no refund. This means 100% of the financial risk was placed on me.
Multiple disputes were opened on DHgate. No effective protection was provided. The product listing was later removed, and I found similar negative experiences from other buyers reporting the same issue.
Delivery of a defective product is not fulfillment of contractual obligations. A platform should ensure fair consumer protection, but in my case, the system clearly favored the seller.
Buyers should be extremely cautious when purchasing high-value items here.
