3 weeks ago I bought a sports item from an online spanish retailer, when the product arrived in Ireland over a week ago, DHL demanded I pay 72 euro in Import Taxes and VAT before they would release my shipment. DHL are having great difficulty in understanding that the Republic of Ireland and Spain are both in the European Union and import taxes do not apply!!! I have bought similar products recently from the Netherlands and France and thankfully used a different shipping company and my items were delivered with no extra charges. It's a disgrace that DHL can demand charges that do not apply. I would advise anybody who is purchasing items online to avoid this scamming delivery company.
