Being taken to court following loss of my dog

I was very excited to start dog training college early last year and was happy with the initial communication with organisation. To me they seemed a very caring, dog loving company whos ethos was to work with dog lovers to enrich their lives/ learning experiences and allow them to go into a field they were passionate about. I had hoped to improve my knowledge of training and hopefully with my girl go into local schools maybe to work with children with autism. I currently work with children who have behavioural issues. This all changed suddenly due to extenuating and tragic circumstances and the behaviour of this so called "dog loving " organisation has left me appalled. I will try to condense and sorry for long winded rant. Soon after signing up with DTC I sadly lost my best friend, my beloved bull terrier. It was unexpected and totally out of the blue. Many emergency vet trips, sadly to no avail and I lost her. I had paid the £595 registration however did not want to chase getting this money back as this is of course a functioning business and I had wanted to complete course. I just did not have heart to continue as was very low and my mental health suffered due to loss of my girl.I called DTC this was March 2024, they appeared very understanding and agreed to sort out for me and for me not to worry. This did not stop a bombardment of texts and emails advising further payments were due. My partner made calls as I was in such a bad place loosing my dog and just very suprised at the way this organisation continued to harrass me.I heard nothing more until 20th December 2024 when email and text received advising me I am to be taken to court to reclaim the money for a course I could not attend due to death of my dog and my mental health being affected. This really put a dampner on our christmas and also forced me to revisit the loss of my pet. I am 55, involved in local dog rescue. I have never had anything to do with even a fine and so the idea of being taken to court is not only scary but very hard for me to get my head around. Does it seem right that an organisation promoting love of dogs, supporting people etc would then be seen as intimidating and harrassing a woman who simply could not complete any training as had lost her best friend. ?? To be honest I am utterly appalled. I have appointment for legal advise but would be interested to have anyone elses thoughts on this. It really badly reflects on this company . Please any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
