While the airport is very clean, and specious - plenty of places to sit/ wait/ sleep if you have a longer layover. I didn’t try the lounges but there did seem plenty of options. However - the disability and accessibility training and/or knowledge by some staff was staggeringly poor and embarrassing. I use a sight cane! When I went to go through security for scanning my hand luggage I was told “give it here, you can walk through without it” after being asked “what is it? Why do you have a walking stick?” When I said it was a sight cane because I can’t see properly - he asked me “what’s that then?” I had just flown in from Iraq, and the service and friendliness there outshone that of the security staff in Doha! I also felt that every time I walked past a shop I was being micro-watched. Made me not want to even bother trying to shop for anything. I understand that there are cultural differences, especially when it comes to disability and mobility aids but I was stunned at how uncomfortable I felt at Doha airport at times.
