Can we change this collectively???
THIS KEEPS HAPPENING- it happened to me and I’m worried DOMESTIKA will try to take another payment like they have from some other poor people on here.
Is this something we could try and change collectively: see below for UK advice and firstly contacting CITIZENS ADVICE.
How about if you manage to report to Citizens Advice we add another review here with 👍 and any helpful advice???
I don’t know what else to do as the company are sooo slippery and do not answer anyone’s complaints.
Let me know what you all think…
🚨 Where to report this (UK — strongest options)
1. Citizens Advice (first step — important)
**find address online- TrustPilot don’t allow you to add links.
• They log your complaint and pass it to
• They log your complaint and pass it to
• They log your complaint and pass it to Trading Standards
• This is the official gateway — don’t skip it
👉 Say clearly:
• You believe it’s a misleading subscription / dark pattern
• You did not knowingly consent to annual billing
⸻
2. Trading Standards
• You cannot contact them directly
• They act based on Citizens Advice reports
• If enough people report → they can investigate the company
⸻
3. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)
• ***Find address online
via gov.uk ( complain-to-cma)
• Focus: unfair terms, misleading pricing, subscription traps
👉 This is especially relevant because:
• CMA has already investigated “subscription traps” and “dark patterns”
⸻
4. Action Fraud
• ***Find address online (actionfraud.police.uk)
• Use this if you believe:
• The charges were unauthorised
• Or consent was obtained deceptively
👉 Be aware:
• They may log it but not act unless it clearly meets fraud thresholds
⸻
5. Payment route (often most effective)
• Your bank / card provider
• Or PayPal (if used)
Ask for:
• Chargeback
• Or “continuous payment authority dispute”
👉 This is often the fastest way to actually get money back
⸻
⚖️ Why this might be unlawful (in plain English)
Under UK law (Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations), companies cannot:
• Hide key pricing info in fine print
• Use “bait pricing” (e.g. £1 course → £200 subscription)
• Enrol you in recurring payments without clear, informed consent
What people describe in reviews:
• Cheap course → hidden subscription
• No clear warning → large annual charge later
• Difficult cancellation
Those are classic “dark patterns” — something regulators are actively cracking down on.
⸻
💡 Reality check (important)
• A lot of complaints ≠ automatic scam
• Some companies rely on:
• Free trials → auto-renew
• Poorly explained terms (legally risky, but common)
However, if it’s:
• Systematic
• Repeated
• Misleading at scale
👉 That’s exactly when regulators step in — but only if enough people report it properly
⸻
✅ What I’d do in your position
1. Report to Citizens Advice (this triggers official tracking)
2. Submit to CMA
3. File a chargeback immediately
4. Keep screenshots of:
• Checkout page
• Emails
• Terms (if you can still access them)
