The business drew me in with a £2 per month offer for two card machines. I would just need to pay £2 per month, 0.4% and 3p per transaction. Sounded very nice. Had a look through the terms and conditions and found other fees to pay. £5.00 per month SaferPayments programme fee. £10.00 Minimum Monthly Service Charge (per outlet*). This means that your fees are going to be bare minimum £17 per month. If you bring in £10 or £2500 per month, you are paying £17 per month. I can see how once you have transactions of £2500 per month this is worth while, but before this point... nope.
Also, it was a shame that the 18 month contract wasn't discussed at all. I know all this information is in the terms and conditions, but it would be nice to be told when you are signing up to make payments for over a year.
I initially spoke with Henry. I called back and spoke to Declan. Thank you Declan for explaining what the £5 and £10 fees were.
This could be a very good option to go for. But if you are taking less than £2500 per month in transactions then pause and think.
