I used a service for a paternity test, which was delayed by a week. After sending the samples to the UK (I had to cover postage), the nightmare began. The swab test got stuck in customs, and I was told I needed to pay the customs fee. I found this quite strange but eventually agreed to pay half just to get the results. However, three weeks later, the swab test is still stuck in customs. The company claims to have paid, but when I contacted the postal service, they said no payment was made. I sent the test to the address they provided, but upon checking, I found that facility had been dissolved years ago. Their customer service has been slow to respond, and when they do, they only apologize. If they truly care, why not pay the customs fee? I’m concerned I may never get my results and worry about the privacy of my DNA. This has been an utterly bizarre experience. DNA testing is stressful enough, and I will report this. UPDATE: The swab test returned to my address; they never paid for it as they claimed. Now my family knows I took a DNA test.
