I have been an ebay member for nearly 20 years and have used the facility almost exclusively for purchases. In that time I have maintained a 100% rating, always paying promptly, never making unreasonable complaints or demands. Now, however, since the introduction of the Global Shipping Programme I am on the point of ceasing my relationship with ebay. I live in Ireland (not Outer Mongolia or Afghanistan) and the term "item will be despatched via the Global Shipping Programme" plunges me into despair because I know that should I be foolhardy enough to make the purchase the item ordered will probably not arrive. In a fairly short period of time I am out of pocket to the tune of over 100 Euros owing to items being "lost" in transit. Suppliers, quite rightly, claim the items have been shipped, it is impossible to make any contact with the people administering the GSP although they are responsible for incorrect and incomplete addressing of packages and needless to say, eEay are no help what so ever.In the past Royal Mail and An Post have delivered items promptly, usually in a matter of three or four days. And couriers have been known to deliver within 48 hours so, in my humble opinion, the GSP "system" is a money making scam.
